Being A Funeral Celebrant

Christine Angela in the park Funeral Celebrant in Manchester

I decided to become a Funeral Celebrant in Manchester to coincide with a change in my life and for a challenge in the future. I am motivated by the idea of representing individuals and families at what could be the most difficult time of their lives; the respect they deserve at this time is something I can serve well.

My professional background of over four decades in education and as the director of a charity, helps me to communicate with ease with friends and strangers alike. I am happy to be able to use my skills to write beautiful and meaningful stories about people’s  lives and to create personal ceremonies for  a loved one.

I will write and deliver a unique and well crafted ceremony focusing on a loved one, reflecting the thoughts, feelings and wishes of their family and friends.

I think it is a privilege to tell someone’s life story and I will endeavour to do this in a real, concerned and caring way.

A Little Bit About Me

I enjoy socialising with friends and family and make time to do this. I love having dinner with friends and family plus I enjoy cooking! I am a voracious reader; I love to write, mainly personal stuff but I am just beginning some educational writing.
Holidays in hot places and by the sea are my favourite but I do love travel generally. In the past year I have travelled extensively around Thailand and Cambodia and the islands there, as well as a recent tour of four Italian cities – Venice, Florence, Rome and Naples. China is next!
Spending time with young people is life affirming and I’m fortunate to have over a dozen adult nephews and nieces to keep me energised and to maintain my keen sense of humour. Add to this my own adult children and two grandchildren in their 20s, and my great granddaughter, I feel very fortunate to share my life with them. I’m an expert at keeping in touch! My charity work is a very important part of my life. My charity exists to help children and families in one of the most impoverished parts of Manchester and to help alleviate poverty for children and families there.

Testimonials

Christine Greenhalgh was a source of profound support for our family as she delivered funeral services for both of my grandparents over the past few years. Her empathy and patience created a space where we felt heard and cared for during such a deeply emotional time.
What stood out most was Christine’s ability to capture the nuance and complexity of growing older, honouring not just the lives my grandparents had lived but also the profound measure of their loss. She took the time to listen to our family stories and memories over the years thus embracing the intricate web of relationships that make up of a family.
Her talent for weaving vivid recollections of family life—our social gatherings, the music that shaped us, the humor that bound us—was remarkable. Christine painted a picture so rich and personal that every generation in the room walked away with a deeper understanding of who my Nana and Grandad truly were.
Christine’s work was creative, bespoke, and deeply heartfelt. Her ability to balance the joy of remembering with the gravity of loss left an indelible impression on us all. We are forever grateful for Christine’s unique and personal gift in being able bring to life the essence of my grandparents on both occasions and celebrated the legacy they left behind.

I am delighted to offer my highest recommendation for Christine, an outstanding educator who has made a remarkable impact at Hulme Hall Grammar School over the past ten years. As an English teacher and Head of English, Christine has consistently demonstrated an unparalleled passion for language and literature, and her commitment to fostering a love for learning in her students has been nothing short of inspiring. Christine’s vast knowledge of the subject, paired with her boundless enthusiasm, made her a natural leader within the department. As Head of English, she not only led by example but also worked tirelessly to support her colleagues, creating an environment where both students and teachers could thrive. She was always willing to go the extra mile, offering additional support to those who needed it and encouraging pupils to reach their full potential. Her dedication to building strong, positive relationships with both students and staff was truly remarkable. Christine understood that every student has unique needs and took the time to connect with each individual, ensuring that they felt valued and supported in their learning journey. Her ability to inspire and motivate, combined with her empathetic approach, created a classroom environment where students felt confident to explore new ideas and challenge themselves. Christine’s impact extends far beyond the classroom. Her leadership and passion for the subject have left a lasting legacy at Hulme Hall, and her contributions to the school will be remembered for years to come. She is a rare and exceptional teacher whose enthusiasm and expertise have shaped the lives of many students and colleagues alike. I have no doubt that Christine will continue to inspire and enrich the lives of those lucky enough to work with her in the future.
